Sexual Wellness Care
Your sexual health is part of your health.
Changes in desire, arousal, orgasm, comfort, and sexual satisfaction are common—but that doesn’t mean you have to simply live with them.
At Intimate Vitality Collective, sexual wellness care provides a private, judgment-free space to understand what may be contributing to your symptoms and explore personalized treatment options.
Sexual Wellness Is More Than Desire
Sexual function is influenced by hormones, medications, relationships, stress, sleep, pelvic health, medical conditions, life transitions, and emotional well-being.
You may benefit from a sexual wellness evaluation if you’re experiencing:
Low Desire
Little or no interest in sexual activity, decreased spontaneous desire, or changes that are causing distress.
Arousal Changes
Difficulty becoming or staying physically aroused, decreased sensation, or reduced genital response.
Orgasm Concerns
Difficulty reaching orgasm, taking significantly longer to orgasm, or changes in orgasm intensity.
Pain & Discomfort
Vaginal dryness, burning, painful penetration, discomfort during or after sex, or fear of pain with intimacy.
Changes During Life Transitions
Sexual concerns related to perimenopause, menopause, postpartum changes, breastfeeding, medications, contraception, surgery, or other health changes.
Understanding Sexual Function
Desire
Sexual desire is influenced by the brain, hormones, emotional well-being, relationships, medications, stress, and overall health.
Low desire becomes a clinical concern when the change is persistent, personally distressing, and not better explained by another contributing factor.
Arousal
Arousal involves both the brain and the body’s physical response to sexual stimulation. Blood flow, genital sensation, lubrication, hormones, medications, pelvic health, and psychological factors can all affect arousal.
Orgasm
Orgasm involves complex communication between the brain, nerves, pelvic floor, and genital tissues. Hormonal changes, medications, pelvic floor dysfunction, medical conditions, and changes in stimulation or sensation can affect orgasm.
Comfort
Healthy vaginal and vulvar tissues depend partly on estrogen. Declining estrogen—particularly during menopause, postpartum, and breastfeeding—can contribute to dryness, irritation, reduced elasticity, and painful intercourse.
Painful sex should be evaluated rather than accepted as a normal part of aging or hormonal change.
Your Sexual Wellness Evaluation
We look beyond the symptom.
Your evaluation may explore:
Hormonal health • Medications • Pelvic floor function • Vaginal and vulvar health • Medical conditions • Relationship factors • Stress and mental well-being • Sexual history and goals
Depending on your concerns, laboratory testing or referral to another specialist—such as pelvic floor physical therapy or sex therapy—may also be recommended.
Treatment Options
There isn’t one treatment for sexual concerns.
Your care plan is based on what is contributing to your symptoms.
Treatment may include prescription therapies for low sexual desire, vaginal estrogen or other therapies for GSM, testosterone when clinically appropriate, compounded topical therapies, pelvic floor therapy, sexual counseling/therapy, supplements, lifestyle interventions, or other individualized treatments.
